H.R. 1207; Jim Grant says Fed would be shut down under an audit.
Unbelievable admission to CNBC from Jim Grant today in reference to Ron Paul’s proposed Federal Reserve audit, H.R. 1207. Jim Grant came right out and said that the Fed would not withstand a conventional audit and be shut down. This comes on the heels the news that H.R. 1207, known as The Federal Reserve Transparency Act of 2009, is starting to gain steam in congress. Currently the bill has 207 cosponsors of the required 218 needed to bring it to a vote.
From Grant’s interview with CNBC:
“If the Fed examiners were set upon the Fed’s own documents—unlabeled documents—to pass judgment on the Fed’s capacity to survive the difficulties it faces in credit, it would shut this institution down,” he said. “The Fed is undercapitalized in a way that Citicorp is undercapitalized.”
Rand Paul has publicly endorsed this bill and would support any future legislation like this when elected into congress. Unfortunately Pelosi has stated she will try and stop the bill, and President Obama will veto it if passed. However this is the exact kind of exposure we need to expose the multiple problems with the Federal Reserve. This also shows us the need to really step up the effort to get Rand the support he needs to get elected to the Kentucky’s Senate seat in 2010. He would be a powerful ally in any future legislation like H.R. 1207.

Rand gets a boost from Ron Paul.
We sit with over $65,000 raised in the early days of Rand’s exploratory committee, and the positive vibes are very real. It is still a long way to go for Rand Paul, but he is starting with a bang right out of the Kentucky bluegrass gates. Now more good news, that really comes as no big surprise, but is a great shot in the arm none-the-less. Ron Paul has e-mailed his supporters encouraging them to also support Rand’s run for the Senate seat in Kentucky for 2010.
Dear Friend,
My son, Rand, has helped me campaign since he was 11. He and his brothers and sisters and nieces and nephews have literally knocked on thousands of doors for me.
At the age of 21, Rand debated Phil Gramm in my US Senate race in my stead. During the Presidential election he traveled to ten states giving speeches for me. He appeared on hundreds of radio programs for me. I am grateful for his contribution and very proud of the thoughtful, principled man Rand has become.
So, it is with great enthusiasm that I endorse my son Rand’s venture into electoral politics. Rand has formed an exploratory committee to run for Senate in Kentucky. Sending Rand to Washington would be a tremendous victory for the Freedom Movement.
I hope you will join me in supporting Rand in any way you feel comfortable. You can get more information or make a contribution at www.randpaul2010.com
Rand has also established himself as a significant force in Kentucky politics. For fifteen years he has run Kentucky Taxpayers United, a group that rates the state legislature and promotes the Taxpayer Protection Pledge whereby candidates and office holders take a pledge not to raise taxes.
Like me, Rand is a graduate of Duke Medical School. Rand is an eye surgeon, married for eighteen years, and has three children. In addition to politics, he is the founder of the Southern Kentucky Lions Eye Clinic that provides free care for those in need.
I hope you will visit Rand’s website, www.randpaul2010.com, and consider supporting him in any way you can.
In Liberty,
Ron Paul
Thank you Ron Paul, and we welcome his supporters of Liberty and Freedom!
